It’s precisely what Ontario’s community-based mental health and addictions sector strives to provide to for its clients every day.
E-QIP – the Excellence through Quality Improvement Project – is designed to support Ontario’s addictions and mental health providers to do what they do best – provide quality care and treatment to people who are often at the most vulnerable point in their life.
E-QIP is a collaborative initiative of Addictions and Mental Health Ontario (AMHO), Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA Ontario), and Health Quality Ontario (HQO). Together these organizations are supporting Ontario’s community mental health and addiction service providers to make care better by enhancing a sector-wide culture of Quality Improvement (QI).
It’s an 18-month project that will build upon the existing foundation of excellence by integrating quality into everything we do for years to come.
E-QIP will support Ontario’s community-based mental health and addictions service providers in building skills and quality improvement mechanisms to assure they are providing the best possible care, treatment and services. In doing so, the sector can also be more accountable to government, funders, and most importantly – the individuals and families they serve.
This commitment is a key part of Ontario’s pledge to providing all Ontarians with access to quality mental health and addictions services, regardless of where they live. It’s aligned with the work of the Mental Health and Addiction Leadership Advisory Committee, and with Health Quality Ontario’s framework for quality. It means providing services that use:
It also means that the sector will be ready when quality reporting under Ontario’s Excellent Care for All Act (ECFAA) becomes a requirement for Ontario’s community-based addiction and mental health organizations.
